Ryanair announce new partly-sponsored Type Rating programme for UK cadet pilots

Ryanair has just announced a new ‘partly-sponsored’ Type Rating programme for cadet pilots who hold the right to live and work in the United Kingdom

The airline is now accepting applications for their new partly-sponsored Boeing 737 Type Rating programme in the United Kingdom (RYR DAC) which will start from 1st September 2024 onwards.

Cadets will pay an up-front Type Rating fee of €5,000 followed by a yearly reducing bond, with no salary deductions. Upon successful completion of training, cadets will have a guaranteed UK base, at one of Ryanair’s many bases throughout the UK.

This new programme is exclusively open to candidates who:

  • Hold the right to live and work in the United Kingdom

  • Hold an EASA licence, or DUAL licences (UK CAA and EASA) with all relevant EASA ratings

There’s now an opportunity for UK CAA licence holders

For the first time in several years, cadet pilots with a UK CAA licence now also have an opportunity to apply:

”We are pleased to extend a unique opportunity to candidates who hold only a UK CAA licence to attend an assessment, and if successful at all stages, candidates will have up to 12 months to obtain an EASA licence, EASA Medical, and other EASA ratings (AUPRT & MCC*) to qualify for the partly-sponsored Type Rating course.”

“Please note that if you currently have a UK licence only, you CAN also apply to this position on the basis that you commit to obtaining an EASA licence and all relevant EASA ratings in the 12 months following successful completion of an assessment. If interested, please mention "interested in obtaining an EASA licence" in the ‘candidate comment’ section of your online profile on the career page.”

*If you are planning to apply with a UK CAA licence initially and gain an EASA licence (within 12 months) if your application is successful, remember that VA Airline Training is approved to deliver DUAL APS MCC training. In most cases, this will avoid the need to complete a separate EASA APS MCC course in addition to your UK CAA APS MCC course.
